- Microglia in the aged brain develop a hypoactive molecular phenotype after surgery December 19, 2024CONCLUSIONS: While anesthesia and surgery induce pro-inflammatory changes in the plasma and brain of mice, microglia adopt a homeostatic molecular phenotype following surgery.
